Wadapartja
Pottebakkersrijge 21
At this cosy lunch café, they do everything a little differently. Everything you see is for sale – from the plates to tables. Wadapartja opts for regional products and has plenty of vegetarian options. Although both locations are nice, Miss Blanche’s favourite is Wadapartja Westerhaven. Here you can have a drink on a beanbag on the Hoge der A in summer. With only a 2-minute walk from Hotel Miss Blanche, this lunch spot is a must-visit.

Paais
Oude Kijk in Het Jatstraat 24
The perfect place for fresh pastries with delicious coffee. A 5-minute walk from Hotel Miss Blanche is ‘Paais’! ‘Tasting Room’, a lovely place to enjoy a high tea. In addition to coffee and pastries, this hip café also offers lunch along with a variety of local drinks. Apple juice from Groningen and a Lemonade from Peize, the place where this concept ‘Paais’ originated. In fact, ‘Paais’ is Gronings (= language of the city Groningen) for the place ‘Peize’.

Droppie

From delicious sweet liquorice to old-fashioned sours and sweets, Droppie has it all. For children this shop is a true paradise and for adults it is a place full of nostalgia. Kinderboerderij - stadspark
Stadspark 3
One of the best family-friendly activities in Groningen is visiting the petting zoo in Stadspark. Here, you and your children can stroll among goats, sheep, rabbits, and chickens, while the little ones discover what life is like on a farm.
The petting zoo is spacious and free to enter, giving you plenty of room to pet and feed the animals at your own pace. There’s always something to see: a newborn calf taking its first steps, a hen caring for her chicks, or a curious rabbit coming up for a sniff.
Afterwards, kids can run off some energy in the nearby playground or enjoy an ice cream on one of the benches. For anyone looking for easy-going, outdoor fun in Groningen, the Stadspark city farm is a delightful place to spend time together and create lasting memories.

Groninger museum
Museumeiland 1
Of all the things to do in Groningen, the Groninger Museum is one you shouldn’t pass by. Just steps from the train station, its bold, colourful design and modern lines turn heads before you’ve even stepped inside. Beyond its doors, you’ll find a bright, engaging world of art and stories, one that delights adults and keeps children curious.
For young visitors, the museum organises scavenger hunts, creative workshops, and family tours throughout the year. It’s an inviting way for little ones to explore paintings, sculptures, and design in a hands-on, light-hearted way. Many spaces encourage them to pause, question, and even craft something of their own.
When it’s time for a break, settle into the museum café for something simple and satisfying, and swap thoughts about your favourite discoveries. If you’re planning a day exploring.
