Café De Sigaar is a charming café-restaurant located on the Hoge der A in the city centre of Groningen. With a beautiful waterside terrace, an extensive lunch and dinner menu, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our kitchen works with fresh ingredients and serves accessible, flavourful dishes ranging from classics to modern specials.
As a kitchen intern at Café De Sigaar, you will fully participate in the daily operations of our kitchen team. You will be actively involved in the mise en place the preparation and organisation of all ingredients and materials before service begins. In addition, you will help with the preparation, cooking, and plating of the dishes. You will learn to work according to professional standards and will have plenty of room to grow.
During your internship, you will get to know all aspects of working in a professional kitchen and contribute to a pleasant dining experience for our guests. Your tasks and learning points include:
- Preparing ingredients and ensuring a perfect mise en place
- Assisting in the preparation and finishing of fresh dishes
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace
- Helping during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, with a focus on speed and quality
- Working according to hygiene and safety regulations (HACCP)
- Collaborating within a close-knit team and actively contributing ideas for improvements
- Being flexible, including availability during evenings and weekends
